SOCIO-COGNITIVE APPROACH: CRITICAL DISCOURSE ANALYSIS OF THE UNITED NATIONS CLIMATE ACTION SUMMIT VAN DIJKS

This article is a result of critical discourse analysis (CDA) to the news You Have Stolen My Dreams and My Childhood : Greta Thunberg Gives Powerful Speech at UN Climate Summit at TheJakartaPost. The approach employed in this research is the the three dimensional CDA by Teu A. Van Dijk Socio Cognitive Approach. The purposes of this research are to describe the macro structure, super structure, micro structure, socio-cognitive and social issue from the linguistic aspects in You Have Stolen My Dreams and My Childhood : Greta Thunberg Gives Powerful Speech at UN Climate Summit text. The results show that there are linguistic aspects in the form of diction in the direct sentences that are used by TheJakartaPost with the theme The United Nations Climate Action Summit. This ideology is used by Greta Thunberg as her way based to the climate condition. This is closely related to the background of TheJakartaPost as a pro-online mass media. It is acceptable if TheJakartaPost creates a positive image of the current government. The main point of information that is conveyed in the news of Climate Action Summit used by Greta in environment to build a high social soul as a young generation.
